This was perfectly shown by a sixth part, where the authors were finally confused and made a game of fragments that were not connected either stylistically or gameplaino.

Like any commercially successful undertaking, the branch received a sequel, making a picture of the world even more confusing.

Continuation should not
The original game for the story of history used the serial structure: instead of the usual chapters, it was divided into episodes, at the beginning of each of which the classic “in the previous series” was shown, and everything ended with mandatory cliffhanger and “further in Revelations“. There was no sense in this, except exclusively stylization. This time the authors went further and really used the episodic model.
Unlike projects Telltale Games, The game was not developed as a series, but only published. At the time of the release of the first episode, the press has already received a full package of missions. Episodes-series came out once a week, and each ended at the most tense, interesting and intriguing moment. In total, the passage takes more than eight hours: to four episodes after passing, two bonus pieces are added, which fill important story holes, but did not fit into the general narrative.
And there is something to fill out – the game script even at the level of the plot looks confusing. Claire Redfield and Moira Berton (daughter Barry Berton, the hero of the very first Re) stolen people in masks. They discover themselves on the island, among monsters and corpses, with bracelets in the arms and voice of a mysterious woman from speakers. Instinct says that while this woman is alive, no one will get out of the island.
At the same time, another story branch develops: Moira’s father, having hung up with a weapon, sails
to the island to save the bloodstream. He meets a girl in a white dress who has strange paranormal abilities and really asks not to leave her alone. Forgive me for a small spoiler, but in the final of the first episode it turns out that two lines are developing with a difference of six months.
Each episode consists of two parts: at first we see events from the point of view of prisoners of girls breaking to freedom, and then we go in the role of a duet of rescuers, taking into account the walls collapsed in six months and rotten corpses. Therefore, each location is completely or partially used twice. This method of saving the budget looks funny and works great on the atmosphere: Barry sees and comments on all the destruction and rearrangements that you made half an hour ago.
Despite an interesting presentation and a very intriguing forming, it is not worth waiting from the story of more. This is a typical “abode of evil”-with stupid villains, strange motivations, sudden betrayals and personal drama somewhere in the past. And of course, every serious moment is supplied with kilograms of pathos, an inappropriate slowdown in time, salvation in the last second and other. Looking at the whole story, you begin to think that the film version Resident Evil It’s not so bad, because the game still does not claim to be more than a simple second-rate militant who frankly rolls into a parody of himself.
All action takes place on a small island located somewhere near Russia. I would like to shake the hand for developers for attention to the little things: it is unlikely that you still will be able to see so authentically reproduced wooden huts, stone stoves and even grates on the windows in the form of “sun”. And the radio broadcasts from the series “Dress, hang out and go to work”-this is generally something behind the facet. All the more amazing and funnier, by the way, the localization looks like: someone again did without knowledge of the language, strictly according to the translator. Because the floor of the characters changes in subtitles, jokes are missing and the meaning of phrases is completely distorted.
However, excluding individual episodes, the visual series only upsets: the game is very weak technically (even the videos recorded in advance look so -so), and the locations are made in a hundred shades of dirty. Around corridors, factories, basements, darkness, dust and other indecency. In general, there is nothing to admire – you need to survive.
Stepped on the same mines
Heroes (always in pairs) are moving to their goal. If you played any Resident Evil, Starting from the fourth and ending Revelations, you will not be lost. Running in level, a rare pushing of objects, a camera falling on the shoulder in aiming mode – all this is available. There are few cartridges, as always, the monsters are vilely dodging, and three or four enemy is already a big problem.
Everything is done at a good, average level. Occasionally the game pleases with episodes where you can play stealth and clean the level imperceptibly. Sometimes simple puzzles come across, but the usual topics of past parts are mainly exploited: a full monster, along which you need to run from the “boss”, the defense of the partner who opens the door, and another classic. The levels are saturated with action, and scenes develop quite dynamically. Complete the picture by half a dozen weapons, the same number of varieties of enemies. All this was already everywhere;real game value lies in cooperative mode.
No matter how I tried, I could not find a single reason why Revelations 2 There is no online multiplayer. You can play together, but only one device. Yes, if you want to play together, mentally divide the monitor screen into two. Partially the situation is saved by Share Play on PS4: the console provides for the ability to imitate the game behind one prefix. A person at the other end of the wire will slightly suffer from delays and unrealistic management, but this is nothing. Because cooperative in Revelations 2 It is arranged in an interesting way.
The roles are distributed asymmetrically: one player is always the main one, the other remains on the run. Claire heads weapons and modifications, while Moira fights only one mount and wears a flashlight. It is clear that the only serious task of the second player is to run away in time. While the Claire is responsible for the main shooting.
But this does not mean that the second player is useless. On the contrary – teamwork is strongly necessary. The flashlight in the hands of a fragile girl incinerates enemies, which lowers their protection and stops. It sometimes becomes a serious tactical element. In addition, paired hand -to -hand attacks cause more damage, which helps to save ammunition. Another pleasant trifle: only in the light of the flashlight are visible hidden objects. Levels also require interaction – you need to constantly separate, pull on different levers, block doors and so on.
Barry’s alignment is changing. The girl Natalya cannot even be beaten by a mount, therefore she does not carry any attacking load at all. But she sees enemies through the walls, and also knows how to highlight the weak points on the bodies of mutants. And climb through small holes in the walls.
What is nice, the game is wonderful and alone. A computer partner behaves adequately – it always shines to where necessary, does not suffer too much from the attacks of enemies (and is automatically treated, if that). Natalia is especially striking – she not only knows how to automatically shout: “Caution, invisibility!”, But also shows a finger at him, and also adjusts the shooting:“ A little to the right! Now to the left! Here!”
The problem is that the hardcore gamer in the role of support will be seriously bored: if Moyra can still give up a mount, then the game for Natalia turns into despondency. But if you use a neighbor in a stairwell or a living woman of any social status as a second pilot, then the system works – the load laid on the shoulders of a person who is not accustomed to gamepads is just right so that it is also fun and not too complicated. Perhaps this is the reason for the absence of an online multipler. This is still more convenient with loved ones.
The situation is interesting with bonuses. It will not be possible to talk about their specific content, because the script is completely tied to spoilers, but, one way or another, one premium episode is a full-fledged stealth, without the ability to attack. And an element of management is added to another, additional goals and restrictions are introduced.
For an experienced player, a cooperative in the “raid” mode will be much more pleasant: everything turns into an race on arenas where you need to kill monsters. The beauty is that this is an honest session multiplayer – everyone chooses a character that he is going to develop, accumulates experience points for passing missions, looking for rare types of weapons, and improves them. At the same time, the complexity of the tasks, the power of monsters and other things is growing. The only thing that is depressing is the absence of a certain goal in this.
Re: Revelations 2 -This is still not a new number of the series. It has a small budget, lack of gloss and any ambitions. We also write down the optimization on PC, problems with the network game and the controversial separation of roles in multiplayer.
Nevertheless, it is interesting to play, the tasks are constantly changing, complexity always remains at the proper level. Even after passing, there will be something to do: get and distribute experience points, spend them on improvements and costumes, go through an episode for a while or with invisible enemies, drown in a “raid”, finish off special “medals” or collect all the hidden objects. The game is not perfect, but dynamic, saturated and requires cooperation. And therefore, all connoisseurs of the genre can be recommended with confidence.
